“Travel doesn’t become adventure until you leave yourself behind”-Marty Rubin

Greetings Friends, in the previous post I have shared my more out of control involvement in Manjolai. In this post I wanna share my trekking experience in Kuthiravetti which is which is found in excess of 1000 feet from Manjolai Estate.

Kuthiraivetti lies about 90 kilometers from Tirunelveli, tucked deep within the Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reservein the Western Ghats. Perched at an elevation of around 6,000 feet, this region is blessed with wet tropical evergreen forests and sweeping grasslands. The mountains here offer breathtaking, panoramic views that truly make you feel as if you’ve stepped into another world. Along the route to Kuthiraivetti, you’ll pass through beautiful places like Manjolai EstateKakachiNalumukku Estate, and Oothu.

With prior permission from the forest department, our journey began at Nalumukku Estate. We reached Nalumukku by bus, and from there, we were fortunate to hitch a ride in a work vehicle (a beat) that operates between Oothu and Nalumukku for plantation workers. That saved us valuable time, and we arrived at Oothu by 11:30 AM.

It was just the two of us—Prakash and Arun. Arun had been here many times before, but this was my first visit. At Oothu, we grabbed a few snacks. There’s only one small eatery, and if you plan to have lunch there, you must order at least two hours in advance—they prepare meals only on request.

We then began our trek to Kuthiraivetti, a trail of about 6 kilometers accessible only on foot. The atmosphere was magical—light rain, mist curling through the trees, and the earthy scent of the forest in the air. Just imagine walking in the fog, with only the sounds of nature surrounding you.

The greatest predator you going to look here was leech, wherever sadly we additionally experienced by it. There is no medical aid pack with us so we lost such a large amount of blood. On the off chance that you are get an opportunity to go there better take some salt, lighter and so forth…

As we trekked, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of guilt—guilt that we often trade moments like this for a life weighed down by routine and obligations. I was reminded of Christopher McCandless’s words in Into the Wild—how our society, though advanced, often feels disconnected from what truly matters.

On the way, we stumbled upon nature’s bounty: wild guavasraspberrieslitchislacotesoranges—the taste of each was pure, raw, and unforgettable. I must confess, I picked just one green pepper—fresh, vibrant, and so spicy I ran out of water. It made me wonder whether what we often buy in shops is even real in comparison.

We were lucky to spot a great Indian hornbill, though the wet weather made photography difficult. We also saw a herd of sambar deer, and the path was lined with towering eucalyptus trees. The very air we breathed felt medicinal like nature had offered us her own Ayurvedic cure.

We achieve the goal by 1.45 pm to the view point there is a single direction path, you can see the dams which was Manimuthar, Karayar from the top view my pupil enlarged by 2x huge in light of the fact, that the all encompassing perspective and energized by the scene, we took numerous photographs and completed our bites. By God’s effortlessness around then fog was clear and we had a superior view however inside 15 mints we came to realize that we are under foreboding shadows and begun roaring so we reinforcement everything .

Not just we two were here, simply take a gander at the way, God help us it’s an impression of leopard and plainly demonstrates that it’s a major one. I damn sure foot imprints are not there while setting off to the view point. No well being types of gear with us so we took a long sticks in the shrubberies for our security and proceed with our strolling with little dread yet by karma we are protected and came back to Oothu by 5.15 pm there nourishment we requested was prepared extremely decent veg meals.
